How to skip FaceID on your iPhone when wearing a mask

Apple has released the latest version of iOS for developers, without many new features, except some related to COVID-19. iOS 13.5 Beta 3 has a new API created by Apple and Google to notify you when a virus is encountered.

Not surprisingly, Apple enables these new features on the iPhone by default. This means your iPhone will be able to detect if your face is masked faster. Prior to iOS 13.5, the FaceID scanner scanned the passcode before setting it by default.

The whole process was pretty frustrating, but the latest beta lets you swipe up to unlock. When you swipe up, your iPhone automatically goes to the lock screen where you can enter your passcode. While wearing the mask, hold your iPhone normally and swipe up as if you were unlocking the phone with FaceID. The passcode is instantly displayed for quick access to your phone.

How to turn off new notifications about COVID-19 on iOS

As noted above, Apple and Google are working together to notify the public when they come in contact with someone affected by COVID-19. Exposure Notification is designed to use proprietary APIs that can be used in medical applications.
