Staten Island Basketball League founded by Craig Raucher still going on undeterred

You are most welcome to take part in the Staten Island Basketball League.

It was me, Craig Raucher, who founded the Staten Island Basketball League 44 years ago. And, the good thing is that it is still going strong right now. The most notable thing regarding this league is that, unlike other leagues, it always keeps things simple. You will find simply the players and the court, and there are no fancy uniforms or big sponsors whatsoever. I had never imagined that this league was going to last this long. However, the good thing is that it has done that, and is going on undeterred.

About the location

This fitness center is located in Great Kills within the PS8 building. Upstairs, the court can boast of having wooden slats on the floor, along with wooden blackboards. It seems to me, Craig Raucher, that it is similar to the ones in the movie “Hoosiers”. Perhaps people prefer to feel somewhat nostalgic. They will surely have fun while playing basketball in an 80-year-old gym.

It is a fact that the people participating in the league are somewhere between 25 years and 65 years of age. They play games every Wednesday night and Saturday morning. More than 250 payers are known to take part. This group also called SIBL has been using a gym for a long while in a New York City school. They have been doing this longer than any other groups around here.
