Have you ever been challenged by your neighbors to take on a DIY project? If so, you're not alone. Steve and I are always up for a challenge, and our neighbors know it. So when they found out about our love for home improvements, they threw down the gauntlet. "I bet you can't hang an outdoor light without using nails," they said. Well, challenge accepted!

Our neighbors are renting a house down the street, and their landlord strictly forbids them from drilling any holes. But they needed a light for their dark side yard. So, we had to come up with a solution that was both semi-permanent and hole-free. That's when we discovered Gorilla Tough Clear Mounting Tape.

This crystal clear, double-sided tape is designed to stick to both smooth and rough surfaces. It works indoors and outdoors, and it's long-lasting and weatherproof. Perfect for the task at hand.

Hang an Outdoor Light without Holes

Before using Gorilla Tough Clear Mounting Tape, make sure your hands are clean and ready, because once this tape sticks, it's not going anywhere. We took two pieces of the tape and attached them to either side of the mounting plate. This tape works on various materials such as plastics, metal, wood, glass, brick, ceramic, and stone. We were confident it would hold.

The only surfaces it doesn't work well on are wallpaper, delicate surfaces, and some PP plastics. Fortunately, our mounting plate was metal, so we were good to go. The tape adhered quickly, so be sure it's in the right position before pressing it down.

After that, remove the strips on the top of the tape. If you don't have long fingernails, you can use a craft knife or tweezers to help you grab a corner. Make sure the surface is dry and relatively clean, and then firmly press the tape down. Trust me, this Gorilla Tough Clear Mounting Tape really sticks!

Once we attached the lower solar bracket, we also used the tape to secure the upper light plate. Gorilla tape can hold up to 15 lbs, although our neighbors' light was much lighter. (Weight limits may vary depending on surface texture, porosity, and flatness. Both surfaces must be completely flat to ensure full contact with the adhesive.)

My neighbors' light is not only solar-powered but also has a motion detector. Thanks to Gorilla Tough Clear Mounting Tape, it formed an instant, long-lasting bond with the siding, and it's completely weatherproof. Even in the rainy Northwest, it will hold up.

We're thrilled that we could help our neighbors add a light to their side yard without breaking their landlord's rules. But let's give credit where credit is due - this Gorilla Tough Clear Mounting Tape is truly remarkable. What would you hang using this product?
