Do you ever wonder how to unwind after a long day of work? If you're unsure how to spend your time, swimming is a great idea. Not only is it good for your health, but it also helps relieve stress. But if the pool light is dim or not working while you're enjoying a swim, it can spoil your pleasure or even irritate you.

There are several reasons why underwater pool lights can become dim or stop working. The constant current LED driver may not be functioning, causing the LED pool light to become dull. You can solve this problem by installing a new driver. If most of the LED chips in the pool light have burned out, you will need to replace the pool light bulb with a new one or replace the entire pool light. Preparation

Before replacing the pool light bulb, make sure you are fully prepared so that you are not rushed when replacing the bulb. Have the tools you need to replace the bulb ready. Screwdriver, tester, replacement light bulb.

Drain the Pool

Draining a portion of the pool water facilitates the replacement of the bulb. It is not necessary, but it is very useful for beginners.

Turn Off the Power

Once you have finished draining, turn off the power to the pool. The pool power can be found on the power distribution box. After locating it, turn off the power. After the power is off, try turning the light back on to confirm that the power is off. If you cannot find the pool power, the safest option is to turn off the main power in your home. Then repeat the above method to see if you have turned off the power.

Remove the Pool Light

If it is a built-in pool light, there will be reserved light wires in the pool light niche. At this stage, you can unscrew the pool light and carefully pry the light out. Then pull the light straight down for the next step. If it is a wall-mounted pool light, you can loosen the wire on the other side after bending the pool light carefully, so that you can slowly pull out the light wire and then pull it down to the ground.

Replace the Pool Light Bulb

The next step is to tighten the screws. Some of the screws on the lamp holder have a cross shape, and some are in line. Therefore, prepare all possible tools at the beginning to ensure that you have the tools you need on hand and not waste time. Take a suitable screwdriver, remove the screws from the lamp holder, place them in a safe place, remove the lamp holder, and place the screws together.

Some bulbs have screw connectors that can be twisted and loosened, and some have attached wires, so be extra careful when removing the bulb. If a wire is exposed, first test with a tester to confirm if the wire is live at this stage, and then replace it with a new bulb after confirming its safety.

If there is dirt inside the lamp, it should be cleaned in a timely manner. Pool lights that have been used for more than ten years may also have internal water corrosion. If the corrosion is severe, even if we replace the pool light bulb, it may be damaged within a short period. In this case, it is best to replace the pool light with a brand new one.

Reinstall the Pool Light

After replacing the bulb, reinstall the inner rings of the lens one by one. Then place the lamp housing and tighten the screws again. For built-in pool lights, twist the light wire in circles, place it back into the niche, secure it, and screw it down. For wall-mounted pool lights, you also need to go to the other side of the wire after placing the light. Carefully pull the wire that has just been pulled, then turn on the power supply and secure the interface with insulating tape.

Load the tools to prevent screwdrivers, screws, etc. from being misplaced. If the tools accidentally fall into the pool or are blown into it, it will cause safety issues.

After you have done all of the above, turn the power back on and check if the pool light is working properly. At the same time, use a tester to check for any leaks around the pool light. Once everything appears to be in order, our pool light bulb replacement is complete.
