The Benefits of Wearing a Watch

The reasons people wear watches today are vastly different from when the first watches were introduced.

The reasons people wear watches today are vastly different from when the first watches were introduced. At the same time, the percentage of people who wear watches has decreased significantly. Of course, this isn't surprising given that almost everyone now carries a phone that can tell them the exact time, down to the thousandth of a second. This is also the argument advanced by many people who refuse to wear a wristwatch. Many of them say, "Why wear a watch when I can just look at the time on my phone?" but the truth is that there are far more reasons to wear a watch than just checking the time, and that's exactly what I do.

Watches make excellent accessories.
Today, the vast majority of people who wear watchesdo so as an accessory - a piece of jewellery that complements their style and appearance.

The watch is widely regarded as the only genuine piece of jewellery that men can wear without appearing feminine.

Women have a plethora of accessories and jewellery to choose from, such as rings, bracelets, handbags, and much more, whereas men, in general, struggle more to pull that off, but a watch is an accessory that always works, no matter what.

As previously stated, a good-looking watch can significantly improve your appearance and be matched to the outfit you're wearing.

They are practical.
How many times have you heard someone say that because they have a phone, they don't need a watch?

Most likely a lot.

But the truth is that looking at your wrist for the time is far more convenient than reaching into your pocket for your phone. Furthermore, checking your watch is simple and takes only a few seconds, but imagine fishing for your phone and then pulling it up during a meeting just to check the time. That would be considered extremely impolite. Of course, this does not only apply to meetings, but I am sure you can think of a few other places and occasions where it would be appropriate.

Watches are incredible works of art.
Most people underestimate the level of craftsmanship required to create a high-end timepiece – and even some lower-end watches.

A watch is more than just a timepiece; it is a work of art that someone, depending on the watch you wear, has been working on for hours. Furthermore, because of the incredible craftsmanship, wearing a watch allows you to carry art, history, and a symbol of tradition with you, and when you realise how much work has gone into a nice timepiece, you tend to appreciate it a lot more. Compare that to a phone that was built without all of that. Some watches can take hundreds of hours to make, while others can take even longer.

Watches Are Usable
While watches aren't essential tools for us today, they are extremely functional and provide a variety of useful functions that can improve your daily life.

Wristwatches were used to synchronise manoeuvres during a war in the nineteenth century, but wristwatches have evolved significantly in terms of functions since then, and there are now wristwatches that offer a wide range of useful features.

Watches have been developed to assist divers in the ocean, pilots in the sky, and everyone in between since they were first used in the military for synchronising manoeuvres.

Wristwatches are now available for a wide range of activities, including diving, racing, exploring, flying, and many others.

Watches provide simplicity.
Have you ever picked up your phone just to check the time, only to find yourself on the phone for several minutes because you used it as a distraction?

One of the benefits of wearing a watch is the ease of use it provides. A watch is less likely to be a distraction than a phone, though you may admire it for a while if it is beautiful.

Every time you take out your phone, you create a distraction and risk of becoming stuck, but by wearing a watch, you eliminate that risk.
